Zítka, Martin ; Hájková, Eva (advisor) ; Janovec, Ladislav (referee)
1 ABSTRACT This thesis is named Linguistic Analysis of weather forecasts and is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. In the first part of this thesis readers can find general knowledge of field of media: the term media communication is defined, specifics are described, it is talked about a media product, content and meaning. After that we mention media audience with respect to the pupil as a special type of recipient. The following is a characteristic of television weather forecasts within the media communication and analysis of its typical means of expression. The last part of this section is the description of the school curriculum, especially the media education, because the research was made in the schools and the main goals of this thesis were based on requirements of curricula of the Czech Republic. The second part presents the motivation of investigation and the method of the action research that was chosen. The largest part of this section is the part containing the whole evaluation and interpretation of the results of particular activities, both propaedeutic and proactive with the media product. The main goals of this thesis are the development and subsequent application of an action plan with projected activities for the Czech language teachers at primary school, especially in the...
Information value and acceptability in weather forecast
Bělohlávková, Kateřina ; Janovec, Ladislav (advisor) ; Palkosková, Olga (referee)
7. SUMMARY This diploma thesis The information value and acceptability of forecasting is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part the forecasting is described as a product of television newscast. I deal with the fact of forecasting entering the media communication. I deal with the information value that forecasts bring and show the way a piece of information is transferred from a producer to an addressee relating to the process of coding and decoding. I describe the acceptability of forecasts and its elements influencing comprehension. In relation to acceptability, textual linguistics is discussed in a separated subchapter. The last theoretical part deals with semiotics and semantics. These disciplines deal mainly with meaning and sings and that is the reason why they are not important only in the theoretical part but also in an analyzing part of this thesis. The analyzing part is based on semiotic survey analysis dealing with individual components of forecasts (visual, audio and audio-visual). The aim of this thesis is to find out which of components of forecasting brings the highest information value to respondents and which is best comprehensible for addressees. The survey results demonstrate that it is the audio forecasting that has a high information value and brings...
Historical film as information source and the comparison to its literature rendition
Pospíšilová, Dita ; Vodrážková, Katrin (advisor) ; Šípek, Richard (referee)
The bachelor thesis focus on the definition of information (the importance of information in general, information in books), then it will consider the characteristics of the film and its historical significance from the perspective of the viewer. As the subject of examination, on which the thoughts and findings will be demonstrated, is chosen the important English King- Henry VIII., who has been depicted in many movies and about whom there were written many books as well. Primarily the bachelor work focus on the historical accuracy of the movies and books, the comparison of the importance of both the media (what information value both media provide). The bachelor thesis also aims on the general perception of movies and whether the examined work are quality and accurate source of information. In conclusion, there will be the comparison of the information value of these two selected media.
Analýza indexů akciových trhů a režimů na komoditních trzích
Kuchina, Elena ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Máša, Petr (referee) ; Lukáčik, Martin (referee)
The thesis focuses on the identification of the typical scenarios of the mutual relations among the stock markets considering different regimes on the commodity markets. For the identified scenarios the investment recommendations have been suggested. Considering different regimes the commodity markets go through and the mutual linkage among the stock markets during different situations on the commodity markets, six scenarios of the stock markets' mutual relations have been analyzed. It was shown that during most unstable period, when highly volatile regime prevails simultaneously on the energy, precious metals and non-energy commodity markets, the whole economy becomes to be more tied: the stock market indices demonstrate stronger interdependence, and as a consequence the benefits of diversification begin to fail. During the simultaneous presence of low volatility on all three analyzed commodity markets the agreement between occurrences of highly volatile state of most stock markets, besides the indices within the European region (DAX, CAC 40, IBEX 35), is rather weak. Similarly the correlation within regions and with other regions is weaker comparing with other situations on the commodity markets, so the standard investment strategy can be kept. It was also shown that the interdependence among the stock markets during the period of high volatility on the energy market differs depending on the source underlying the oil price shocks causing higher volatility. The regimes prevailing on the commodity and stock markets during different time periods have been detected by applying Hidden Markov Model methodology. To examine the similarity between the stock market indices in terms of highly volatile regimes' occurrences, Jaccard's similarity coefficient is employed. The correlation among the stock markets was computed by Spearman correlation coefficient. The final part of research is devoted to the model-based approach used to analyze the dependence of the movement direction of SSEC index on other stock market indices between two trading days during different situations on the commodity markets. The dependency analysis was performed by applying Stochastic Gradient Boosting methodology.

Methodology and issues of data transformation and its information value estimation during the integration of the heterogenous information sources PhDr. Ivan BARTOŠ Abstract This study focuses mainly on the data and information transformation issue. This topic is currently critical in several scientific and commercial areas. Information value, information quality and the quality of the source data differs between the various systems. This is not only due to the different topologies of the information sources but also because of its different understanding and a manner of storing the information describing the entity of the enterprise. Such information systems, respectively database systems in the scope of the thesis, could perform well as the stand alone systems. The issue appears in the moment when such heterogeneous systems are required to be integrated and the information shall be migrated between each other. The thesis is logically divided into four major parts based on these issues. The first part describes the methods that can be used to classify the data quality of the source system (the one to be integrated) from which the information can be extracted. Based on assumption of the common lack of project and system documentation hereby introduced methods can be used for such qualification even when the...

Methodology for audit of webpages
Jirsa, Tomáš ; Molnár, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Drašnar, Jaromír (referee)
Websites have a significant impact on the competitiveness of organizations. Therefore it is necessary to deal with aspects that affect their success. At least it is worth to detect weaknesses which can be repaired with minimal effort and which baffle effective use of the site. It is possible to use quite a number of audit methods and tools but the global approach to this issue is missing. The aim of this thesis is to create audit methodology and its implementation into the online tool, to allow automatic audit performance. I first describe aspects of success of a website such as search engine optimization, accessibility, usability, information architecture and information value. Then I analyzed the methods and tools for webpages audit and explored the possibilities of their system integration. This enabled me to design the optimal process of audit and realize the tool which is the main output of the thesis and is enclosed on the CD. The benefit of this tool lies primarily in the comprehensive conception which focuses not only on a certain area, but tries to evaluate all possible facts within a single analysis. The advantage of the tool is its mass utilization. It allows detection of possible errors and solutions proposition with minimal costs and without the need of special knowledge. The tool contains several unique algorithms that check some aspects of sites and eliminate manual verification.
Interpretation of text message
Bečev, Jan ; Sigmund, Tomáš (advisor) ; Čermák, Radim (referee)
Abstract The thesis is dealing with possible ways of interpretation of text message. Particular emphasis is put on the processes which take place within reader during interpretation. Main benefits of the work are creation of the original model of interpretation based on the Shannon-Weaver mathematical model of communication and its placement into wider interpretation theory issue. First part of work describes widespread Shannon-Weaver mathematical model together with matching model of interpretation. Also, there is described a model of communication which was adapted especially for use of interpreting on interpersonal communication by means of text. Practical use of current theories of interpretations is outlined as well, together with the detail description of the term of information value of message for author, reader and objective observer. In the second part, process of interpretation is described and situated on improved communication model. The Eco's Theory of interpretation is also described here on examples. The theory is further expanded by elements of the work of D. R. Hofstadter, Stuart Hall and S. Pierce. In thesis the emphasis is put on the role of the reader during interpretation. Third part deals with previous theories, compared in transparent process of interpretation of text. The process is also expressed using a graphic modeling tools. Fourth part is devoted to presentation of the case study which illustrates the process of interpretation of text message, based on extended model of Interpretation.
